Chapter 8

******TRIGGER WARNING******

This episode contains gore and torture. So far, this has been a lighter read, but this chapter will be different. Please take care of your mental health first and always. If you need spoilers so you can skip this chapter, find my Facebook page and contact me there. I’ll be glad to give you a rundown.

This chapter will be from Chase’s POV.

Rain was pelting against the metal building Dimitri, Knox, and I were holed up in. The pitter-patter of the rain was a steady beat that did nothing to excite me. Though I wore a smile on my face, inside there was nothing but darkness. Even the guys who knew me best had no clue what really lurked on the inside. I was a monster, and there was no denying it. At times, I wondered why I tried so hard to show this facade. Was it worth it? Struggling day in and day out to make sure no one saw the real me? Maybe I should show everyone what was really inside, let them experience the horror that was me. Would my friends still be my friends if they truly knew me?

I watch as Dimitri paces the building, talking angrily into his phone. Knox stands to the side, arms crossed like always, face completely blank. If I could read minds, I would want to read his. Psycho called to psycho, and we are best friends. I knew more about Knox than anyone, and he frequently liked to remind me that he would castrate me in a heartbeat if I ever told a soul. I doubt many would care about the secrets of his that I knew. They weren’t exactly Earth-shattering to most people. However, I could understand that he wanted to keep them a secret. I may be a demented son of a bitch, but I wasn’t disloyal. I had his back for however long he wanted me to.

A few minutes later, Dimitri hangs up the phone and glances at the two of us. The look on his face told an entire story to anyone who knew him. Something had happened, and he wasn’t happy about it.

“Their parents moved up the wedding.”

“Shit,” Knox and I said together.

“Yeah, so it looks like we have to move up our time frame. I know it’s not ideal, but it’s gotta be done.”

“So, what’s the plan, boss?” I knew Dimitri hated when I called him that, so naturally, I said it way more than I needed to. Besides, someone had to lighten the mood. Sure, shit was bad, but it wasn’t life or death. I’m sure it felt that way to Nick, though. As a control freak, if anything was even slightly different from what he wanted, it was the end of the world.

“Cut the shit, Chase. Knox, find the girl and bring her here. Chase, I’ll grab your tools, and you’ll stay here till we get back. Am I clear?” Oh, daddy was in a bad mood. Tingles ran down my skin, making it feel like it was crawling.
